Professor of Islamic Legislation and ethics in the college of islamic studies in Hamad Bin Khalifa University, and the Director of the research unit in the Islamic Legislation and ethics center (since 2014) He obtained his Bachelor's degree in Islamic Studies from (Omdurman University 1997), and a bachelor’s degree in Arabic language from (Al Azhar University 1998). He got his master’s in Sunnah and Hadith studies (2002) and a PhD in the same field in (2009) for his thesis: “The Textual Critical Approach to Hadīth: a Study of the Methods of Traditionalists and Jurists''(published in beirut 2011). He was tutored by many senior islamic scholars, one of them was Dr. Noureddine Attar, and he obtained the traditional islamic sciences certification in Hadith that was granted to him by Sheikh Abdul Fattah Abu Ghudda, along with several other islamic certifications. He is a co-founder of the “Intellectual Creativity forum” (1999) that seeks a modern and a critical approach to Islamic thought. He was an editor for “Islam and the Issues of today” on Islam Online (2003-2008), and a content creator for the “Sharia and Life” program on Al Jazeera (2004-2014). He was a visiting researcher at the Center of Oriental Studies (2006) and then at the Center of Transnational Studies in Berlin (2012-2013) a Visiting Professor at Qatar University (2010-2011) and at the Islamic University of Beirut (2010). He has lectured at the University of California (Boalt Hall School of Law), Princeton University (Institute for Transnational Studies in the Middle East and North Africa), Ludwig-Maximilians University, Munich (Institute for the Near and Middle East), and Osnabrück University, Germany ( College of Theology) and the University of Florida in the USA. He Arbitrated many many articles in the “at-Tajdeed” Journal (Malaysia),the Contemporary Islamic Thought journal (America - Lebanon), and the Arab Center for Research and Policy Studies (Qatar). He authored, investigated, and edited a number of published books, as well as published several peer-reviewed studies in the fields: Criticism of Hadith, Contemporary Islamic Jurisprudence, Methodology, and Modern and Contemporary Islamic Thought. He has many contributions to Arab magazines and newspapers.
